Terms & Conditions
These terms govern the service relationship between Seri Waktu and each client. Reading them before submitting a timepiece for service is encouraged.
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") apply to all services provided by Seri Waktu, a watch repair and restoration workshop operating at Jalan Tun Razak, 50400 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ("the Workshop"). By leaving a timepiece for service, clients agree to these Terms in full.
Definitions
Throughout these Terms, the following words carry specific meanings:
- "Workshop" refers to Seri Waktu and its staff, premises, and associated operations.
- "Client" refers to any person or organisation presenting a timepiece for assessment or service.
- "Timepiece" refers to any watch, clock, or related instrument submitted for service.
- "Service" refers to any repair, overhaul, restoration, assessment, or related work carried out on a timepiece.
- "Service Ticket" refers to the document issued by the Workshop upon receipt of a timepiece, identifying the item and the agreed or estimated scope of work.
Acceptance of Service
A service relationship begins when the Workshop issues a Service Ticket and the client acknowledges receipt. The Service Ticket records the condition of the timepiece at intake. Clients are encouraged to review this document carefully, as it forms the basis for any subsequent assessment or dispute.
Pre-existing damage noted at intake will be documented on the Service Ticket. The Workshop is not responsible for defects or damage that were present prior to submission.
Estimates & Pricing
Prices for standard services are published on the Workshop's website and may be updated from time to time. For non-standard or complex work — including vintage restoration and movement overhaul involving sourced parts — a written estimate will be provided before any work commences.
If work in progress reveals additional requirements that affect the final cost, the Workshop will notify the client before proceeding. The client may accept the revised scope, request a partial service, or decline further work. In the latter case, the Workshop charges a diagnostic fee to cover the time invested in assessment.
All prices are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
Scope of Work
The Workshop will carry out only the work described in the Service Ticket or as subsequently agreed in writing. No additional procedures will be performed without client approval.
For heritage restoration, the client and Workshop will agree a written condition report and scope before work begins. Wherever possible, the Workshop will favour preservation over replacement, and will consult the client on any decision that involves altering original components.
The Workshop reserves the right to decline or discontinue a service if, in the technician's professional judgement, proceeding would risk further damage to the timepiece.
Turnaround Times
Indicative turnaround times are provided as a guide only. Standard services typically complete within:
- ◆ Battery & Strap Service — one to two working days
- ◆ Mechanical Movement Overhaul — two to three weeks
- ◆ Vintage & Heritage Restoration — six to twelve weeks (estimated after initial assessment)
Delays may arise due to part availability, technical complexity, or workshop capacity. The Workshop will communicate any material delay as soon as it is identified. Time estimates do not constitute a binding commitment.
Client Obligations
Clients are expected to:
- ◆ Provide accurate contact details at intake so that the Workshop can reach them regarding the service.
- ◆ Disclose any known defects, prior repairs, or modifications to the timepiece.
- ◆ Respond within a reasonable time when the Workshop seeks approval for additional work or notifies them of completion.
- ◆ Retain the Service Ticket, as it is required for collection.
- ◆ Settle the full service charge at or before the time of collection.
Liability & Risk
The Workshop exercises reasonable care in handling all timepieces. However, watchmaking involves inherent risks, particularly with aged or fragile components that may be in an unknown state prior to disassembly. The Workshop accepts liability for damage caused directly by workshop negligence, but does not accept liability for:
- — Pre-existing undisclosed defects that become apparent during or after service.
- — Component failure arising from age, prior wear, or the natural condition of the timepiece.
- — Consequential or indirect losses, including sentimental value, loss of use, or any financial loss.
The Workshop's total liability to a client is limited to the price paid for the specific service in question. Clients with particularly valuable timepieces are encouraged to hold their own insurance.
Uncollected Items
Completed timepieces should be collected within 30 days of notification. The Workshop will make reasonable efforts to contact clients using the details provided at intake.
If a timepiece remains uncollected after 60 days, a storage charge of RM 5 per week may be applied from the 31st day onward. If an item remains uncollected after 180 days despite documented contact attempts, the Workshop reserves the right to treat the item as abandoned and dispose of it in accordance with applicable Malaysian law.
Outstanding service charges must be settled in full before any item is released.
Payments
Payment is due in full upon collection of the timepiece, unless a deposit arrangement has been agreed in advance for larger services. Accepted payment methods are displayed at the Workshop.
The Workshop retains a lien over any timepiece in its possession until all outstanding charges have been settled. Items will not be released until payment is received.
Intellectual Property
All content on the Workshop's website — including text, photography, and design elements — is owned by Seri Waktu or used with permission. It may not be reproduced, distributed, or adapted without prior written consent. Service documentation and client files are held in confidence and used only in connection with the service relationship.
Privacy
The Workshop collects and processes personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Malaysia). The Privacy Policy provides full details of how data is collected, used, and retained. By submitting a timepiece for service, clients acknowledge that their contact details will be used to manage and communicate about that service.
Amendments
These Terms may be updated from time to time. The current version is always available on the Workshop's website. Continued use of the Workshop's services after any amendment constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes affecting ongoing service arrangements will be communicated directly.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from the service relationship that cannot be resolved amicably will be referred to the courts of Malaysia, and both parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.
